Mid-Century Modern Wedding Inspiration

Mid-century modern design elements and minimalism were combined to create a unique wedding inspiration for the modern and edgy couple living in Seattle, WA.

Mid-century modern design elements like the sunburst and geometric patterns can be found throughout the wedding including the custom ceremony signage by On The Wall Design Studio. Retro signature cocktails created by Party on the Rocks and served in custom glassware added to the design. One of our favorite design elements for this wedding inspiration was the fun yellow billy balls, also known as the craspedia flower. We used these throughout the florals and Honey Crumb Cake Studio continued the theme in the wedding cake with sugar flower replicas.

Personalization was also a main theme throughout this wedding inspiration. For example, instead of a champagne wall, a whiskey wall was incorporated to better fit the mid-century time period of 1960’s – 1970’s. Custom earrings by Rene were created to compliment Green Lake Jewelry Works‘ engagement ring’s main stone and wedding band patterns. The bride also rocked neon green nails by her favorite nail salon T&M Nails.

On top of everything, this wedding inspiration took place at Cathedral, one of our favorite wedding venues in Seattle. Located in historic downtown Ballard, the building itself is historic and boasts exposed brick and steel beams. The business model for the venue, however, is revolutionary. All proceeds from event bookings are donated to charity. If you’re looking for a unique venue, both in style and operations, we encourage couples to tour the Cathedral.
